Organic alcohol is one of the most sought after beverages globally as more consumers adjust their drinking habits. A significant rise in consumption among young adults and the expansion of bars and nightclubs has contributed to a favorable market.

In 2022, consumers value knowing that the companies they’re buying from are committed to sustainable practices. They care about the ingredients of their favorite spirits – and it comes as no surprise. Additives and chemicals were once unavoidable. Now farmers, distillers, and suppliers are concentrating on greener production methods.

At SASMA BV, we believe that consistent quality is key to a successful long-term relationship. When doing business with us, we ensure the highest quality and excellent service along the way.

What is Considered Natural Alcohol?

Environmental concerns, liqueur quality, and the health risks associated with the alcohol process have had a significant impact on the global market.

IWSR reports that nearly half of all U.S. alcohol drinkers say they are more likely to buy from an environmentally responsible company. This figure jumps to over 70% for drinkers in Brazil and China.

For alcohol to qualify as organic, it must meet government and food industry standards. The U.S. Department of Agriculture and the European Union issued criteria for producing, handling, and processing organically grown agricultural products.

Each principle promotes environmental protection, and ingredients should be free of chemical pesticides, fertilizers, and GMOs. Farming, fermenting, distilling or bottling cannot yield contaminants that pollute the air, soil, and water.

Organic White Rum, Cognac, and Whisky

As Sasma BV celebrates its 20th anniversary this year, we reflect on two of our biggest wins. During our first year in business, we were the only supplier of organic alcohol with E.U. Organic and USDA certifications.

It was no easy feat. This year we remain the world’s largest independently owned suppliers of bulk premium alcohol, bulk organic alcohol, and bulk spirits. We guarantee the best quality and premium products from our in-house laboratories to reliable quality assurance programs from day one.

Team Sasma

Organic ingredients like barley, wheat, maize, rye, corn, sugarcane, and spices enhance our beverages’ flavor, color, and aroma when malted and brewed. White rum, cognac, and whisky are three of the many high-quality organic spirits offered:

White rum is a translucent spirit made from sugar products such as molasses and sugarcane. Production occurs in rum-producing countries, resulting in a regional taste that goes well with various drinks.

Cognac is a type of premium brandy, and arguably the most well-known. It has a rich and smooth flavor with a strong fragrance, demanding to be sipped slowly and appreciated. The cognac region extends visibility across the Departments of Charente and Charente-Maritime.

The whisky market has developed quickly over the last few years, with more people considering whisky an affordable luxury. With growing acceptance came growing demand for different whisky types, such as premium and organic.

External Pressures Impact Alcohol Market

Though organic is environmentally friendly and favorable among health-conscious consumers, it comes at a price. The food industry faces significant challenges due to the pandemic, climate change, and shipping delays. Tensions in Ukraine are also adding to the pressure.

Wheat has become a pricey necessity. Exports rose nearly 6% this month as India restricts exports to protect their food security. According to Bloomberg, the war has exacerbated a wheat shortage. The country is not a primary export, but the repercussions of the ban prove how dire the consequences will be.

As we navigate unprecedented times, Sasma will continue to meet consumer demands and organic trends. There is much more to come in 2022 for the natural spirits industry.
