Neutral Malt Base

Malt is partially germinated cereal grains that have been dried in a process known as “malting”. Typically these grains are rice or barley, both of which Sasma supplies. The grains are forced to begin germinating by soaking in water, then halted from germinating further by drying with hot air. This process breaks down complex sugars in malt, preparing it for fermentation. Malt base alcohol has been stripped of its malt qualities giving it a neutral taste and makes it perfect for hard seltzers or other Ready-to-Drink beverages. Our Neutral Malt Base comes in a range of proofs between 16 ½ and 17 ½%.
