What is Blended/ Single Malt Whisky?
Malt whisky is distilled from a fermented mash containing exclusively Malted Barley. Blended malt whisky gets its name from the fact that it contains two or more single malts. The Single Malt Whisky is distilled out of one single malt and has not been blended. This type is not available from Scotland but is available from other whisky countries. Please ask our sales team for more information.
What differentiates blended malt whisky from single malt?
There is an unfortunate misconception that blended malts are inferior to single malts. This confusion is based on the term single. Single malts get their name from the fact that they have been created at a single distillery. Although it doesn’t include single in its name, blended malt whisky has one single focus: flavour. We offer blended malt whisky from Scotland but also from other areas in Europe and Asia. Blended malt whisky has a deep character and intense flavour.
The selection of multiple whiskies aims to create an exceptionally well-rounded spirit. Blended Malt Whisky usually have a more lingering, light finish to it due to the extensive array of textures and tastes of all the different single malts coming together, whereas single malts have more of a soft, dry finish.
