At Sasma, we have an assortment of rum that we distribute for wholesale purposes. Whether you are looking to make your own rum or buy rum that’s ready to be bottled, we hope to fulfill your request. Our rums are available at a minimum of 1,000 litres. ABV is between 40% – 80%. We also typically supply at original distillation strength of approx. 95.8% ABV. Sasma supplies 2 kinds of rums. A light rum at 95,8% and a white rum at around 70% which is sweeter and ready to be bottled.What is rum?
Rum is a distilled alcoholic beverage made from either sugarcane juice or sugarcane by-products such as molasses, by a process of fermentation and distillation. The distillate, a clear liquid, is then usually aged in oak barrels. Rum can be referred to in Spanish by descriptors such as Ron Viejo (“old rum”) and Ron añejo (“aged rum”). Rum can be aged between 3 and 10 years. Rum production dates back to the 17th century in the Caribbean and South America. Today, the majority of the world’s rum production still takes place in these regions. Rum is also produced worldwide in Spain, Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Mexico, Hawaii, the Philippines, India, Reunion Island, Mauritius, South Africa, Taiwan, Japan, United States and Canada. While Light Rums are commonly used in cocktails, Golden Rums and Dark Rums that were once typically drunk on their own (i.e. “straight” or “neat”) or used for cooking are now commonly consumed with mixers.
