Sasma Warehouse and Blending Facility

Storage, Blending, Dilution, and Packing in the Heart of European Logistics

The Sasma Warehouse and Blending Facility is purpose-built and strategically positioned between the Port of Rotterdam and the Port of Antwerp, two of Europe’s most important bulk logistics hubs.

The facility brings storage, blending, dilution, and packing under one roof and one management system. For procurement professionals, that means faster service, greater product flexibility, full traceability from intake to despatch, and direct access to major European port infrastructure.

The warehouse and blending facility represents a long-term investment in Sasma’s ability to serve customers across the food and beverage, pharmaceutical, industrial, cosmetic, medical, and electronics sectors — and a significant expansion of what we can offer at speed.

What We Do at the Sasma Warehouse and Blending Facility

Blending

Our mixing infrastructure allows us to blend alcohols and spirits to precise specifications. Whether you require a consistent ongoing formulation or a customised blend for a specific application, the Sasma Warehouse and Blending Facility supports repeatable batch quality at scale.

Dilution

Using controlled processes and an on-site reverse osmosis water system, we dilute alcohol to exact strength requirements. This provides downstream flexibility for customers with specific ABV or concentration needs across beverage, pharmaceutical, and industrial applications.

Packing

The facility supports flexible packing into formats suited to customer and logistics requirements, allowing products to move efficiently from the facility directly into European and international supply chains.

Storage

The Sasma Warehouse and Blending Facility provides secure, high-capacity bulk alcohol storage close to two major European ports. Holding inventory on site allows us to respond quickly to customer demand while maintaining full product traceability across every batch.

Tank Infrastructure and Storage Capacity

The facility is built around modern stainless-steel tank infrastructure, designed to handle large-volume operations with precision and flexibility.

On-Site Tank Capacity

  • 2 × 35,000 L mixing tanks
  • 2 × 100,000 L mixing tanks
  • 1 × 100,000 L storage tank
  • 20 × 35,000 L storage tanks
  • 1 × 5,000 L reverse osmosis water tank

In total, the facility houses more than two dozen stainless-steel tanks and handles over 1,000,000 litres of alcohol. The infrastructure has been sized with future growth in mind, ensuring capacity can scale alongside customer demand.

Quality Control and On-Site Laboratory

Quality assurance at the facility begins on site. The facility includes a dedicated laboratory for rapid first-level product verification, equipped with:

  • Anton Paar density meter — alcoholic strength measurement
  • Shimadzu UV-Vis spectrometer — purity analysis

These instruments provide the initial control and approval step for every product handled at the facility. For advanced analysis — including full gas chromatography (GC) — samples are tested at Sasma’s analytical laboratory at our Zoetermeer headquarters. Pure alcohol samples are also assessed organoleptically as part of our standard quality control process.

Built for Safety, Efficiency, and Traceability

Every operational system at the Sasma Warehouse and Blending Facility has been designed to ensure precise product control and regulatory compliance:

  • Fully computerised inventory and operations management
  • Dedicated piping, pumps, and valves for blending and product transfer
  • A weighbridge for accurate measurement of incoming and outgoing tank trucks
  • A CO₂ firefighting system designed to minimise environmental impact
  • A backup generator to ensure uninterrupted operations

These systems support the kind of reliable, traceable, and auditable operations that regulated industries require.

Sustainability at the Sasma Warehouse and Blending Facility

The facility has been designed with sustainability at its core. It is equipped with solar panels, sized to meet the warehouse’s full electrical requirements — including HVAC, office systems, and the tank farm. This forms part of Sasma’s broader commitment to reducing the environmental footprint of our operations, aligned with our corporate sustainability and UN SDG initiatives.

Management and Team

The Sasma Warehouse and Blending Facility operates in close coordination with Sasma’s headquarters in Zoetermeer. The facility is managed by Plant Manager Mark van Herwijnen, who brings extensive experience in logistics and process optimisation. His focus is on building a clean, organised, and safe working environment with clear operational processes and high standards throughout.

From intake and quality control to blending, packing, and logistics coordination, our warehouse and blending facility functions as a fully integrated part of the Sasma team — not a satellite operation, but a natural extension of how we work.
