Triple sec is a liqueur which tastes like oranges and is used in thousands of cocktails and ready to drink products. The orange taste is produced by the dry orange peels of oranges which are prematurely picked. These peels are afterwards macerated in a bath of alcohol.
The word ‘Sec’ means “dry”. The word Triple is referring to the times of distillation. This explains the light colour of the distillate.
Triple sec is diluted to an alcohol percentage of 30%.
