HOW ITS MADE

Extra neutral alcohols are made from different (raw) materials such as sugarcane molasses or grains (Grain Neutral Spirit) examples of grains include corn, rye, wheat, barley, and rice. ENA is produced by fermenting sugarcane molasses or grains using yeast and distilling this multiple times to produce a final product of alcohol that is both colorless and odorless.

STEP ONE

Choosing the Raw Material During this step, the type of raw material is chosen for fermenting and distilling. The most popular grains used for Extra Neutral Alcohols are corn, rye, wheat, barley, and rice.

STEP TWO

Fermentation of the Raw Material Once the raw material is chosen, it’s time to begin fermentation. Fermentation is a very common term used across the alcohol industry. It refers to the biological process in which sugar is converted into alcohol and carbon dioxide. The catalyst in this process is yeast, used to break down the sugars and convert them into alcohol and other by products.

STEP THREE

Rectification and Redistillation In this step, the fermented raw material is diluted with demineralized water to remove any impurities in the mixture. Once the alcohol is rectified to 96% v/v, the mixture is redistilled. The conversion of rectified alcohol into extra neutral alcohol usually happens at a rate of 70 to 80%. This means that with every litre of rectified alcohol that is processed, only 0.7 to 0.8 litres of ENA are produced and available. We offer ENA with a minimum of 96.4% and maximum of 99.9%
