  • ENA has also been used as a preservative for cosmetic products such as perfume, hair spray, lotions, etc.

Extra neutral alcohols are made from different (raw) materials such as sugarcane molasses or grains (Grain Neutral Spirit) examples of grains include corn, rye, wheat, barley, and rice. ENA is produced by fermenting sugarcane molasses or grains using yeast and distilling this multiple times to produce a final product of alcohol that is both colorless and odorless.

STEP ONE

Choosing the Raw Material

During this step, the type of raw material is chosen for fermenting and distilling. The most popular grains used for Extra Neutral Alcohols are corn, rye, wheat, barley, and rice.

STEP TWO

Fermentation of the Raw Material

Once the raw material is chosen, it’s time to begin fermentation. Fermentation is a very common term used across the alcohol industry. It refers to the biological process in which sugar is converted into alcohol and carbon dioxide. The catalyst in this process is yeast, used to break down the sugars and convert them into alcohol and other biproducts.

STEP THREE

Rectification and Redistillation

In this step, the fermented mixture derived from apples will be diluted with demineralized water. This will aid in removing any impurities in the mixture. Once the alcohol is rectified to 96% v/v, the mixture is completed and ready to be bottled at your facility.
